Rescuers Search for Man Missing in Avalanche in Kyrgyzstan

A large-scale search operation is underway in Chuy Region after a man went missing beneath a snow avalanche in the Suusamyr Valley, Kyrgyzstan.

A total of 55 people are involved in the search in the Boroondy jailoo area of Jayyl District, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.

The team includes 24 rescuers from the Kyrgyz Ministry of Emergency Situations, 28 representatives of the local administration, one Interior Ministry officer, and two relatives of the missing man.

The search has been ongoing since 3:00 a.m. (GMT+6) on February 13, following instructions from Emergency Situations Minister Boobek Ajikeev. Rescuers earlier discovered the remains of 10 sheep in the area, but the man has not yet been found.

Authorities say efforts will continue as weather and terrain conditions remain challenging in the high-altitude valley.
