Ukrainian military specialists have arrived in Denmark to take part in joint counter-drone exercises, responding to recent reports of unidentified drones violating Danish airspace.
The training, titled “Wings of Defense,” will bring together Ukrainian and Danish forces to practice tactics against unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), The Caspian Post informs via Ukrainian media.
Over the course of a week, the participating forces will engage in practical drills, exchange expertise, and enhance their capabilities to counter drone and aerial threats. The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces emphasized, “Such exercises are an important step in strengthening the interoperability of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and Denmark and make our states stronger in their common pursuit of peace and security in Europe.”
On September 30, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed the deployment of Ukrainian military personnel to Denmark, highlighting their frontline experience in countering drone threats. He stated, “Ukraine's experience is the most relevant in Europe right now, and it is our experience, our specialists, and our technologies that can become a key element of the future European ‘drone wall’ - a large-scale project that will ensure safety in the skies.”
Zelenskyy added that the outcomes of the Danish mission would pave the way for broader cooperation with other European countries on drone defense.
This exercise follows a spate of drone sightings that caused temporary airport closures in Denmark and raised concerns over national airspace security. The Danish Armed Forces recently detected drones over military facilities on September 28.
Ukrainian experts were invited to share their battle-tested knowledge in drone defense-an area in which Kyiv has gained extensive experience and developed advanced innovations since Russia launched its full-scale invasion in 2022.
Denmark has been a consistent supporter of Ukraine throughout the conflict, providing military assistance and heavily investing in Ukraine’s defense industry, including joint drone manufacturing projects.
