Mongolian Deputy Prime Minister Amarsaikhan Sainbuyan has met with senior Italian officials to discuss expanding bilateral cooperation in emergency and disaster risk management.

The high-level meeting brought together Giovanna Piccarreta, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Italian Republic to Mongolia; Agostino Goretti, Senior Disaster Risk Management Expert from the International Unit of the Italian Civil Protection Department; and Roberto Rudari, Research Director at the CIMA Research Foundation, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

The sides exchanged views on enhancing collaboration in the field of disaster preparedness, response, and resilience. Key topics included sharing technical expertise, launching joint training programs for emergency personnel, and implementing capacity-building projects tailored to climate-induced hazards such as droughts, dzuds, floods, wildfires, and earthquakes.

Sainbuyan expressed his gratitude for Mongolia’s inclusion in the Italian-led regional initiative, “Strengthening National Capacities for Building and Managing Resilient Infrastructure for Natural Disasters,” which is currently being implemented across eight Asian countries.

Piccarreta reaffirmed Italy’s commitment to advancing cooperation in emergency management and praised Mongolia’s efforts to align its practices with international standards.

The meeting was held as part of celebrations marking the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and Italy - a partnership that continues to grow across multiple sectors.
