Russia, Belarus Discuss Nuclear Ties Amid Global Atomic Forum

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko have convened for high‐level talks at the Kremlin amid the World Atomic Week forum.

The discussions center on enhancing BelarusRussia relations, regional security, and international policy cooperation, The Caspian Post informs via Russian media.

A significant agenda item is the ongoing collaboration on Belarus’s second nuclear power plant-a project of increasing strategic importance.

World Atomic Week runs from September 25-28 in Moscow at All-Russia Exhibition Center, in commemoration of 80 years of Russia’s nuclear industry. The event is gathering leaders and experts from more than 100 countries to discuss advances in nuclear energy, related technologies, and international partnerships.

Prominent attendees include Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, Myanmar’s acting President Min Aung Hlaing, and IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi. Nations such as Iran, Uzbekistan, Egypt, and Niger are also represented among the forum’s international participation.

During their meeting, Lukashenko has reiterated Belarus’ interest in Russia sharing nuclear technologies and expertise, reinforcing a theme of cooperation undercurrents at the forum.
