A wave of Russian drone and missile strikes hit Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, and Kyiv regions on September 22 early morning, killing at least two people and injuring several others, according to regional officials.
In Zaporizhzhia, missiles struck both civilian and industrial zones, igniting fires that destroyed apartment buildings, private homes, and vehicles. Regional Governor Ivan Fedorov confirmed that two people were killed and two others injured, with emergency crews continuing search efforts amid reports of at least one person trapped beneath rubble, The Caspian Post reports via Ukrainian media.
Preliminary assessments indicate damage to 15 apartment blocks, 10 private homes, and several non-residential buildings, local media reported, citing foreign sources.
In Sumy, drone strikes hit the Kovpakivskyi district around 4 a.m., damaging industrial infrastructure and an educational institution. One person was injured.
In Kyiv Oblast, several districts came under attack, with fires reported in residential areas. One man suffered shrapnel wounds, according to regional authorities.
The attacks are part of an intensified Russian campaign of nighttime strikes targeting Ukrainian cities, with increasing impact on civilian infrastructure.
