Uzbek, Kazakh Leaders Reaffirm Commitment to Further Developing Comprehensive Cooperation

On 15 November, at the Kuksaroy Residence, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with his Kazakh counterpart Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in a contracted format.

The discussions highlighted that the ongoing state visit will mark the beginning of a new chapter in the strategic partnership and alliance between the two nations, The Caspian Post reports, citing Uzbek media.

It was noted with satisfaction that, in preparation for the visit, the Intergovernmental Commission meeting and the business forum were successfully held, along with Kazakhstan Medicine Days. A screening of Kazakh cinema is taking place in Tashkent, as well as Astana Days, and several cultural events.

Trade turnover since the beginning of the year has reached $4 billion. The task has been set to increase this figure to 10 billion by expanding mutual supplies and import substitution. Cargo volumes are growing, and more than 40 weekly flights operate between the cities of the two countries.

More than 6,500 joint ventures have been established, and significant projects are being implemented in priority sectors. To develop industrial cooperation, a project portfolio worth over $8 billion has been prepared. It was proposed to launch a joint Investment Platform to advance these projects.

During the talks, special attention was given to expanding mutually beneficial partnerships across key areas such as energy, transport, the chemical industry, agriculture and water management, environmental protection, IT, and other sectors.

The importance of expanding interregional contacts was noted. An agreement was reached to hold the first Council of Regional Heads of the two countries in Kazakhstan in 2026.

The heads of state also exchanged views on regional and international issues.
