Death Toll Rises to Nine After Devastating Factory Blast in Russia's Chelyabinsk

Governor of Russia's Chelyabinsk region Aleksey Teksler has confirmed that the number of fatalities following a powerful explosion at a factory in Kopeysk rose to nine.

In a Telegram post, Teksler reported that five people remain injured, with medical teams working tirelessly to stabilize their condition. Authorities are still searching for those reported missing, The Caspian Post reports via Russian media.

The fire caused by the blast has been extinguished, and rescue teams are now clearing debris at the site. A second explosion had previously occurred, complicating rescue efforts. Officials have ruled out the possibility of a drone strike as the cause.

Teksler assured residents that there is no threat to civilians or nearby infrastructure.
