Explosions lit up the skies over Ukraine's capital Kyiv as Russia launched a large-scale missile and drone assault, with several districts of the capital coming under fire.

One of the hardest-hit areas was near Lukianivska Metro Station, where nearby civilian infrastructure suffered significant damage, The Caspian Post reports via RBC-Ukraine.

A local market and the Kvadrat Shopping Center were reportedly set ablaze in the strike, while residential buildings, metro entrances, and surrounding facilities were also damaged.

Ukrainian officials said the overnight assault impacted more than 40 locations across Kyiv, marking one of the most widespread attacks on the capital in recent weeks.
