A railway incident involving fuel tankers occurred in Russia’s Penza Region, where 14 railway tank cars carrying diesel fuel and fuel oil derailed following a collision between a locomotive and a freight train.
The accident took place during shunting operations at the Chais station, The Caspian Post reports via Russian media.
Earlier, the Kuibyshev Railway confirmed that a shunting locomotive collided with a freight train, causing several cars to leave the tracks. The company said no injuries were reported.
Law enforcement officials уточнили that all 14 derailed cars were tank wagons loaded with diesel fuel and fuel oil. There has been no official confirmation so far on whether a fuel spill occurred.
Meanwhile, the Volga Transport Prosecutor’s Office said on its Telegram channel that three recovery trains have been dispatched to eliminate the consequences of the derailment and restore rail traffic.
