A drone attack attributed to Russia has hit the northeastern Ukrainian city of Sumy, leaving at least 15 people injured and causing widespread damage to residential areas and medical infrastructure.
Officials in Sumy said multiple drones struck the Zarichnyi district, targeting a residential neighborhood. High-rise buildings were damaged, windows were shattered, and several vehicles caught fire in the blast zone, The Caspian Post reports via Ukrainian media.
One of the drones reportedly hit the roof of a hospital, adding to the destruction and raising concerns over the safety of civilian medical facilities.
Among the injured were three teenagers aged 13, 15, and 17, all of whom were hospitalized. Other victims, including elderly residents, received emergency treatment either on-site or in nearby hospitals.
Emergency services released images showing burning cars, damaged buildings, and debris scattered across affected streets as rescue teams continued clearing the area.
Sumy has faced a growing number of long-range drone strikes in recent weeks, despite remaining outside direct frontline control. Ukrainian military officials report increased activity in the region as tensions persist along the northern border areas.
