Iran’s Foreign Ministry on Monday summoned the ambassadors of Britain, Germany, France and Italy following public statements by their governments expressing support for protests taking place in the country.
During the meeting, Iranian officials presented what they described as video footage showing violent actions carried out by some protesters, arguing that these activities exceeded the bounds of peaceful demonstrations, The Caspian Post reports, citing Iran International.
Tehran requested that the ambassadors deliver the footage directly to their respective foreign ministers and called on their governments to withdraw official statements that voiced support for the protesters.
Iranian authorities stated that any political or media backing of the demonstrations was unacceptable and constituted interference in the country’s internal security affairs, the report added.
