A major fire has broken out at the Nizhnekamskneftekhim plant in Russia’s Tatarstan following a reported explosion.
Preliminary reports indicate that one of the facility’s units in Nizhnekamsk is engulfed in flames. The scale of damage and any casualties have not yet been officially confirmed, with authorities yet to issue detailed statements, The Caspian Post reports via the plant's website.
The plant is one of Russia’s largest petrochemical complexes, specializing in the production of synthetic rubber and plastics, and ranks among notable global producers in the sector.
The cause of the explosion remains unclear, and further updates are expected as more verified information becomes available.
