Moldova May Introduce Visa Requirements for Russian and Belarusian Citizens

Moldova may introduce visa requirements for citizens of Russia and Belarus as it advances towards European Union integration, Prime Minister Vasile Tofan has said.

The prime minister noted that no specific timeline has been set for such a decision, but stressed that Moldova intends to continue its European integration process, according to European Pravda.

"We want to continue on the European path. I am not ready to give a specific timeline. If EU regulations require it, I believe we should take the decisions that will allow us to make progress in the European integration process," Tofan said.

The statement suggests that introducing visa requirements for Russian and Belarusian citizens could become part of Moldova's efforts to align its migration and border policies with EU standards. However, no formal implementation date has been announced.
