A pre-wedding celebration in Türkiye ended in tragedy after an argument over a song selection escalated into a mass shooting, leaving one teenager dead and several others injured.
The incident took place in the city of Izmir during a festive gathering organized ahead of an upcoming wedding. Witnesses said a dispute broke out among guests over the music being played, triggering a violent confrontation, The Caspian Post reports via Haber7.
The situation took a deadly turn when one of the attendees opened fire with a shotgun on the crowd. Five people were wounded in the attack, including 14-year-old Ayaz Cimen.
Emergency responders rushed the victims to nearby hospitals, but despite doctors' efforts, the teenager succumbed to his injuries.
Among the injured was also a 45-year-old woman identified as the wife of the suspected gunman. She remains in critical condition and has been transferred to a specialized medical facility for treatment.
Following the shooting, the suspect fled the scene, prompting a large-scale police manhunt. Law enforcement officers later located and arrested the man in a rural area outside the city.
