Kyiv came under a large-scale Russian ballistic missile attack overnight into July 19, with Ukrainian officials reporting more than 30 missiles launched at the capital within about half an hour, including Zircon hypersonic missiles.
The intense barrage triggered air raid alerts across the city, while residents reported a series of powerful explosions, The Caspian Post reports via the Kyiv City Military Administration.
The Kyiv City Military Administration and Mayor Vitali Klitschko said the strikes caused widespread fires and damage across multiple districts of the capital.
In the Solomianskyi district, a residential building and a supermarket caught fire, while emergency crews rescued residents. Officials reported at least six people injured there.
The Shevchenkivskyi district sustained damage to an administrative building, more than 10 vehicles, and nearby residential buildings, where windows were shattered. Fires also broke out in a dormitory and a shopping center in the Dniprovskyi district, while burning vehicles and non-residential buildings were reported in the Desnianskyi district. A private home also caught fire in the Sviatoshynskyi district.
One person was killed and more than 10 others were injured in the overnight attack.
