Russia, Ukraine Conduct 200-for-200 Prisoner Exchange

Russia and Ukraine have carried out a major prisoner swap on a 200-for-200 basis.

“Some 200 Russian servicemen have been returned. In exchange, 200 Ukrainian POWs were handed over,” the Russian Defense Ministry said, The Caspian Post reports via Russian media.

According to the statement, the Russian servicemen are currently in the Republic of Belarus, where they are receiving necessary psychological and medical care. They will later be transported back to Russia for further treatment and rehabilitation at medical facilities operated by the Ministry of Defense.

The ministry noted that the United Arab Emirates and the United States helped mediate the return of the Russian military personnel from Ukrainian captivity.

Earlier in February, a similar exchange took place, with 157 Russian servicemen returned from Ukrainian-controlled territory in exchange for 157 Ukrainian soldiers. Additionally, three Russian civilians from the Kursk region were repatriated.
