Russia has warned that it would respond if South Korea deploys the U.S.-made Typhon missile system on its territory, saying such a move would be viewed as a threat to Russian national security.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko said Moscow would take appropriate measures if Seoul proceeds with the deployment, The Caspian Post reports via TASS.

“If such a scenario unfolds, it will be regarded as a threat to the security of the Russian Federation, which will entail an appropriate response,” Rudenko said when asked about Russia's possible reaction to the deployment of the U.S. missile system in South Korea.

At the same time, the senior diplomat noted that the Russian Foreign Ministry currently has no information indicating that South Korea intends to deploy the Typhon system.
