Russian Drones Strike Ukraine-Moldova Border Crossing, Killing Two

A Ukrainian-Moldovan border crossing in the Odesa region was attacked by Russian drones, leaving two people dead and three others injured.

The Starokozache international checkpoint, which handles road traffic on the border with Moldova, was targeted by unmanned aerial vehicles. The strikes damaged checkpoint infrastructure and nearby areas, while fires also broke out, according to ASTRA.

Oleh Kiper, head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, said that the victims were civilians who were near the checkpoint at the time of the attack.

“Tonight, enemy drones attacked the international road checkpoint ‘Starokozache’ on the border with Moldova. Unfortunately, there are casualties among civilians who were near the checkpoint: according to preliminary information, two people were killed and three were injured,” Kiper said.

Rescuers evacuated 16 more people by bus to a safe location.

The Starokozache crossing has temporarily suspended operations, while emergency and other relevant services continue working at the scene. Moldovan authorities have also been informed about the incident.
