A Russian strike on the southeastern Ukrainian city of Zaporizhzhia injured a 73-year-old woman and severely damaged a residential building on the morning of June 1.
Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, said emergency crews and medical teams were dispatched to the scene immediately after the attack. The injured woman is receiving medical treatment, The Caspian Post reports via RBC-Ukraine.
Photos released by first responders showed extensive damage to the home, with rescue workers searching through debris and assessing the impact of the strike.
The danger had not passed, as an air raid alert remained in effect across Zaporizhzhia on June 1 morning. Residents were urged to remain in shelters and follow safety instructions until the threat subsides.
The latest attack comes amid a series of strikes targeting the city in recent weeks. On May 29, Russian shelling damaged several buildings and injured two civilians. Earlier attacks in May hit industrial infrastructure and sparked fires at businesses, vehicles, and retail facilities, while a powerful strike in April damaged a high-rise residential building and disrupted municipal services.
Emergency responders continue to work at the scene as officials evaluate the full extent of the damage caused by the latest bombardment.
