Ten people were killed and one was injured in a fire at a firework manufacturing factory near Pereslavl-Zalessky in Russia’s Yaroslavl region, the regional press service of the Russian Emergencies Ministry said.

“The bodies of ten deceased individuals were discovered during the clearing of collapsed structures. One woman with a leg injury was handed over to an ambulance crew,” the ministry said, The Caspian Post reports, citing TASS.

The Investigative Committee’s Yaroslavl regional department has opened a criminal case over an alleged violation of industrial safety requirements at hazardous production facilities under Part 3 of Article 217 of Russia’s Criminal Code.

According to investigators, workers were present at the warehouse site when the incident occurred. A team of investigators and forensic experts has begun examining the scene, while a series of forensic examinations has been ordered.

The Emergencies Ministry said the fire had been contained.
