Turkish and Iranian Foreign Ministers Discuss Regional Crisis, Iran-U.S. Talks

During a phone call, Hakan Fidan and Abbas Araghchi discussed escalating regional tensions and reviewed the latest developments in the ongoing Iran-US negotiations.

The two ministers reviewed developments that unfolded in the region earlier in the day and exchanged views on the current state of the Iran-US talks, The Caspian Post reports, citing Yeni Şafak.

Israeli Strike and Iranian Response

The call came amid heightened regional tensions following an Israeli airstrike on Beirut’s Dahiyeh district, which occurred despite an existing ceasefire. Iranian officials condemned the attack and said Tehran would respond. Earlier Sunday, the Iranian military announced it had targeted Israel’s Ramat David Air Base with ballistic missiles, describing the facility as a hub for Israeli attacks on Lebanon.

Türkiye’s Mediation Role

Ankara has maintained communication with both Tehran and Washington throughout the conflict. Turkey has supported Pakistani‑led mediation efforts while also conducting its own diplomatic outreach. Fidan’s call with Araghchi follows similar contacts with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Qatari mediators. Turkey has consistently called for an immediate ceasefire, the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, and a comprehensive agreement that addresses both nuclear and regional security issues.
