Türkiye Issues Weather Warnings as Severe Storms, Heavy Rain Loom

Türkiye's General Directorate of Meteorology (MGM) has issued yellow and orange weather warnings for 35 provinces across the country, including Istanbul and Ankara.

Localized thunderstorms, hail and strong gusty winds are expected across the Marmara, Black Sea, Central Anatolia and inland Mediterranean regions, The Caspian Post reports, citing TRT Haber.

Meteorologists have warned of the risk of flash floods, flooding, lightning strikes and possible transportation disruptions.

An orange warning has been issued for 13 provinces. Heavy rainfall is forecast for Amasya, Çorum, Ordu, Samsun, Sinop, Kastamonu and Tokat, while Bolu, Kocaeli, Sakarya, Zonguldak, Bartın and Düzce are expected to experience heavy rain accompanied by gale-force winds.

A yellow warning is in effect for 22 provinces: Adana, Ankara, Balıkesir, Bilecik, Bursa, Çanakkale, Çankırı, Eskişehir, Hatay, Istanbul, Kayseri, Kırşehir, Konya, Kahramanmaraş, Niğde, Sivas, Tekirdağ, Yozgat, Kırıkkale, Yalova, Karabük and Osmaniye.

Forecasters expect wind speeds of 40-60 km/h along the coasts of the Marmara and Aegean seas, with gusts reaching 50-70 km/h in eastern parts of Central and Eastern Anatolia.

Rainfall is also expected to bring lower temperatures across the country's central regions.
