Türkiye Launches World’s First Hybrid Space Power System

Türkiye has made history by becoming the first country in the world to deploy a hybrid power system in orbit.

The fully Turkish-made orbital tug FGN-TUG-S01, developed by Fergani Uzay, successfully completed a critical maneuver on December 6 at 08:46 (GMT+4), activating its main hybrid propulsion system in a 35-second operation, The Caspian Post reports via the Turkish company Baykar.

"This operation is an innovation not only for Türkiye’s space industry but for the entire world," the company said.

Following the maneuver, the second phase of the mission-the CubeSat deployment-was also successfully completed.

The achievement lays the groundwork for the Ulug Bek Global Positioning System, planned by Fergani Uzay, enabling the future deployment of satellite constellations across multiple orbits using the company’s own technology.
