Türkiye Tests Tolun-P Bunker-Busting Munition with Akinci Drone

Turkish defense company Aselsan announced Friday that it has successfully tested its Tolun-P bunker-busting guided munition, demonstrating pinpoint accuracy during the trial.

The test was carried out using Baykar’s Bayraktar Akinci unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), The Caspian Post reports, citing Anadolu Agency.

The guided munition features domestically developed technologies designed to provide a force multiplier against heavily armored and concrete-protected targets. The Tolun-P offers improved operational effectiveness compared with conventional weapons and was recently introduced into the 250-pound class of munitions.

The munition is integrated with the Sadak-4T multiple-payload pod, which allows multiple units to be carried simultaneously on platforms such as the Akinci UAV.

The system enables operators to engage multiple strategic targets in a single salvo, using electronic fuses that can be programmed from the cockpit within seconds.

The Tolun-P is designed to penetrate targets through high kinetic energy impact and a specialized nose structure that maximizes structural damage. This capability allows it to breach fortified underground shelters, command centers, and armored hangars.

According to Aselsan, the Tolun-P can penetrate up to one meter (approximately 39.4 inches) of reinforced concrete.

The Tolun product family also includes several other variants, including the laser-guided full-power Tolun-L, the electronic warfare version Tolun-EW, the full-rate production guided munition Tolun-F, the infrared-seeking Tolun-IIR, and the ground-launched Tolun-S.
