Ukraine Strikes Oil Platform in Russia’s Caspian Sector

Ukraine has carried out a long-range drone strike on the Filanovsky oil platform operated by Lukoil-Nizhnevolzhskneft in the Russian sector of the Caspian Sea.

At least four hits were recorded on the offshore platform, halting oil and gas production from more than 20 wells it services. This marks the first strike on Russia’s Caspian oil infrastructure, The Caspian Post reports via Ukrainian media.

The Filanovsky field is one of Russia’s largest explored oil sites in the Caspian Sea, with reserves of 129 million tons of oil and 30 billion cubic meters of gas. Extracted products were exported via the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC).
