Russia’s battlefield losses in Ukraine have surged past 1.33 million troops since the start of the full-scale invasion.
The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported on May 1 that total Russian casualties have reached approximately 1,331,710, including both killed and wounded. In just the past 24 hours, Russian forces are said to have suffered an additional 1,420 losses, The Caspian Post reports via the General Staff.
The update also points to heavy equipment losses across multiple categories. Ukraine claims Russia has lost nearly 12,000 tanks, over 24,000 armored combat vehicles, and more than 41,000 artillery systems. Drone losses are reported to exceed 265,000 units, alongside aircraft, helicopters, cruise missiles, and naval assets.
While Ukraine does not disclose its own casualty figures for security reasons, independent estimates suggest the toll on both sides remains extremely high. Analysts from the Center for Strategic and International Studies estimate Ukrainian casualties could range between 500,000 and 600,000 since 2022.
