Iran Assures Readiness for 2026 World Cup Participation

Iran’s government has stated that its national football team is fully prepared to take part in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be co-hosted in the United States.

Government spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani said that the Ministry of Sports and Youth has completed all necessary arrangements to support the team’s participation in the tournament, The Caspian Post reports, citing Al Jazeera.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino said last week that Iran is expected to compete in the World Cup, scheduled to take place from June 11 to July 19.

In March, United States President Donald Trump said that while Iran’s team would be welcome at the event, he raised concerns about whether it would be appropriate for them to attend, citing issues related to their “life and safety.”
