The Uzbekistan national team secured two gold medals at the U17 World Wrestling Championships, currently underway in Athens, Greece.
In the finals of the Greco-Roman wrestling competition, Bunyod Khasanov (up to 48 kg) confidently defeated Kazakhstan’s Nurdaulet Kumaruly with a score of 10:1, The Caspian Post reports citing UzA.
Another gold medal was secured by Abdulaziz Kholmirzayev (up to 80 kg), who overcame Luka Martiashvili of Georgia in the decisive match with a score of 14:7.
In this discipline, two more Uzbekistan athletes will compete for gold - Otabek Tursunov (up to 51 kg) will face Hikmat Hagverdiyev of Azerbaijan, while Behruzbek Valiyev (up to 71 kg) will battle for the championship title against Greek wrestler Dimitrios Soulis.
Tomorrow, the finalists in the women’s category will be determined. The following athletes will represent the Uzbekistan national team:
up to 40 kg: Shokhista Shonazarova;
up to 43 kg: Mukhlisa Masharipova;
up to 49 kg: Mashkhura Abdumusayeva;
up to 65 kg: Muhayyo Rakhimjonova;
up to 69 kg: Dilrabo Dulliyeva.
