Military cooperation and energy security will take center stage at the upcoming meeting of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Council of Heads of State in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, this October.
Igor Petrishenko, First Deputy Secretary-General of the CIS, confirmed that sessions of both the Council of Foreign Ministers and the Council of Heads of State are scheduled for October 9-10, The Caspian Post reports via BelTA.
The discussions will focus on key areas of cooperation among member states, including military collaboration, law enforcement, and regional security. Special emphasis will be placed on energy security, combating terrorism and extremism, and human rights issues.
The summit will also consider a request from the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) to obtain observer status within the CIS.
