Deadly Highway Crash in Tajikistan Leaves 11 Dead, Several Injured

A devastating multi-vehicle crash on a major highway in Tajikistan has left 11 people dead and four others injured.

The accident occurred on the morning of July 2 on the Dushanbe-Kulob-Khorog highway near the village of Elok in the city of Vahdat, The Caspian Post reports via Asia Plus.

A Dulan truck reportedly suffered a brake failure before crashing into an Opel Zafira and then colliding with a Toyota Prado.

The truck driver, the driver of the Toyota Prado, and nine passengers traveling in the Opel Zafira and Toyota Prado were killed in the crash. Some of the victims have yet to be formally identified.

Four people were injured and transported to hospital, with one of the victims reported to be in critical condition.

Senior officials from the Interior Ministry, traffic police, and the prosecutor's office arrived at the scene to oversee the investigation.
