Eurasian Development Bank Partners with Tajikistan to Create Cutting-Edge Electronic City Map

The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB), in partnership with the state unitary enterprise “Smart City” under the Dushanbe Mayor’s Office, has initiated a project to develop a digital platform aimed at creating an electronic map of Tajikistan’s capital city.

Supported by the EDB’s Digital Initiatives Fund, the platform is designed to establish a unified digital system to manage Dushanbe’s urban infrastructure more efficiently, The Caspian Post informs via Tajik media.

This tool will provide city authorities with real-time data across critical sectors such as public utilities, property management, tax reporting, and statistical monitoring.

The new electronic map is expected to enhance decision-making efficiency, improve transparency within municipal governance, and elevate the quality of life for residents through precise urban planning and continuous monitoring.

As part of this initiative, Tajikistan will expand the use of successful mapping and automation technologies already employed by other member countries of the EDB.

The financing agreement was signed on September 24, with the first tranche of funding released on September 30. The total investment amount has not been publicly disclosed.

Digital maps offer dynamic, data-driven geographic representations accessible via electronic devices. Unlike traditional static maps, these modern digital maps provide interactive features, including real-time updates, spatial analysis, GPS integration, and customizable data layers.

Founded over nineteen years ago, the Eurasian Development Bank is a major international financial institution committed to fostering economic integration and sustainable development among its member states-Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and Tajikistan. With a charter capital of $7 billion, the Bank focuses on projects that drive regional cooperation in transport infrastructure, digital systems, green energy, agriculture, manufacturing, and engineering.

The EDB operates under the guidance of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles and holds observer status at the UN General Assembly, reflecting its commitment to responsible and inclusive development.
