Iran, Tajikistan Agree on Roadmap for Social Welfare Ties

Iran and Tajikistan are set to deepen cooperation in social welfare and public health after agreeing to develop a joint roadmap focused on empowerment and support for vulnerable groups.

The initiative was announced during a visit to Dushanbe by Javad Hosseini, head of Iran’s State Welfare Organization, The Caspian Post reports via Tajik media.

Hosseini held talks with Habibullo Khayrullozoda, Tajikistan’s Deputy Minister of Health and Social Protection of the Population, as part of broader efforts to expand bilateral cooperation. Hosseini said the discussions centered on improving welfare services and strengthening professional capacity in Tajikistan’s social sector.

One of the key elements of the agreement involves training Tajik social workers and psychologists with support from Iran. The two sides also explored holding joint specialized conferences and signing new memoranda of understanding to formalize cooperation.

Iran’s Ambassador to Tajikistan, Ali-Reza Haghighian, welcomed the initiative, noting the extensive experience and resources of Iran’s State Welfare Organization. He stressed the embassy’s readiness to facilitate communication and support closer institutional ties between the two countries.

Separately, Tajikistan’s Ministry of Health and Social Protection reported that a meeting with representatives of Iran’s Welfare Organization was held on December 22. The talks focused on expanding cooperation in healthcare and social protection, with senior officials from relevant departments taking part.

Khayrullozoda thanked the Iranian delegation for the visit and highlighted the strong partnership between the two brotherly nations in public health and social welfare. Both sides exchanged views on enhancing collaboration and sharing expertise, and reaffirmed their commitment to deepening bilateral ties to address shared challenges in healthcare and social protection.

Iran’s State Welfare Organization, also known as Behzisti, operates under the Ministry of Cooperatives, Labor, and Social Welfare and plays a key role in supporting people with disabilities, vulnerable groups, and children in need of care, as well as overseeing specialized education and prevention programs.
