Dmitry Kuskov, Director of the Department of International Cooperation at Russia’s Ministry of Industry and Trade has said that construction of the first Russian industrial zone will begin in Tajikistan in 2026, with the site to be located in Dushanbe.
Kuskov noted that the platform could welcome its first resident as early as the same year, adding that Russia is ready to attract companies before construction starts, The Caspian Post informs via Tajik media.
“We are already ready to work with companies and invite them now so that infrastructure can be built around their needs,” he said.
The creation of the industrial cluster was first agreed in March 2023 during Tajik President Emomali Rahmon’s visit to Moscow. The agreement envisioned enterprises in the chemical, engineering, and light industries.
The project gained further support in April 2023 during a visit by a Russian government delegation, with Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov backing the initiative and Khimgrad company expressing readiness to develop it.
Separately, in July 2025, Tajikistan launched the Russia-Tajikistan Industrial Park on the grounds of the former Korgohi Mashinasozi enterprise, covering 9.3 hectares. The facility is expected to host light industry, machine-tool building, and production of medical, electrical, and chemical equipment.
Officials highlight the site’s advantages, including strong transport links, existing infrastructure, and available workforce. Tajikistan already operates several industrial and free economic zones, and the new project is set to complement them while strengthening the Russian-Tajik industrial cooperation.
