Tajikistan and UNESCO Hold Meeting on Cryospheric Research in Paris

A high-level side event titled "From International Year of Glaciers' Preservation to the Decade of Action for Cryospheric Sciences 2025-2034" was held in Paris on June 12. The event was organized at the initiative of Tajikistan, in collaboration with UNESCO's Intergovernmental Hydrological Programme (IHP).

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan noted in his speech the outcomes of the High-level International Conference on Glaciers' Preservation, which was convened in Dushanbe on May 29-31, in partnership with UNESCO and WMO, The Caspian Post reports citing AKIpress.

The event highlighted the crucial role of glaciers in the climate system and the importance of their preservation, which was further reinforced by the adoption of the Dushanbe Declaration on Glaciers Preservation, calling for stronger international scientific cooperation and sustainable investment in cryospheric research.
