Tajikistan, Turkmenistan Boost Partnership with New Strategic Agreements

Tajikistan and Turkmenistan are stepping up their partnership after signing new agreements aimed at deepening economic and technical cooperation, signaling a fresh push to strengthen ties between the neighboring Central Asian states.

The two countries described the outcomes of the 14th meeting of the Intergovernmental Joint Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, and Technical Cooperation as constructive, The Caspian Post reports via Tajik media.

The meeting was co-chaired by Tajikistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Sulaimon Ziyozoda and Turkmenistan’s Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Tangryguly Atakhalliyev. Both officials emphasized that the talks were held in a spirit of mutual understanding and close cooperation.

They noted that the agreements reached during the session lay a solid foundation for expanding trade, economic collaboration, scientific exchanges, and technical partnerships between the two nations.

Following discussions on all agenda items, the co-chairs signed the official protocol of the 14th commission meeting, outlining the key directions for future cooperation. The document is expected to support stronger economic and social ties, boost bilateral trade, and deepen institutional collaboration.

Officials from both sides expressed confidence that the implementation of the protocol will open new opportunities for businesses and strengthen long-term cooperation between Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.

Earlier, Tajikistan also pledged to expand cooperation with the Islamic Development Bank as part of its broader efforts to attract investment and develop key sectors of the economy.
