Tajikistan and Bahrain held talks in Manama on September 14 to explore ways to deepen bilateral cooperation, including the possibility of establishing twinning relations between their capitals.
The discussions took place between Tajik Ambassador to Saudi Arabia and Bahrain Akram Karimi and Manama Governor Sheikh Khalid bin Humood Al Khalifa, The Caspian Post reports, citing Tajikistan’s Foreign Ministry.
The two sides reviewed prospects for strengthening cooperation in areas of mutual interest, with particular emphasis on creating a twinning arrangement between Dushanbe and Manama.
Tajikistan and Bahrain already maintain diplomatic relations and cooperate through bilateral channels and international organizations, with scope to expand interaction in political, economic, cultural, and humanitarian fields.
City twinning can provide a framework for direct contact between local authorities and facilitate exchanges of experience in municipal management, culture, tourism, education, and economic cooperation.
The Manama meeting offered both sides an opportunity to exchange views on further strengthening bilateral contacts and developing cooperation between the two capitals.
