Tajikistan Performs Advanced Heart Surgeries in Collaboration with Italian Experts

The Republican Scientific Center for Cardiac Surgery in Tajikistan has successfully carried out complex heart surgeries as part of international collaboration with Italy.

A joint team of cardiac surgeons, including Italian specialist Vitaly Pak, performed a series of operations, including procedures on children with congenital heart defects. The key partner from Italy was a hospital in the city of Massa, The Caspian Post informs via Tajik media.

The collaboration is part of an ongoing agreement for regular professional exchanges and joint surgeries. During his visit, Dr. Pak also conducted training sessions on the latest cardiac surgery techniques and cardiovascular therapy, deepening the professional exchange between Tajik and Italian specialists.

Chief cardiac surgeon Abdusodik Abdudzhabbarov emphasized the effectiveness of the partnership and noted plans to further strengthen ties with the Massa hospital.

This initiative follows previous successful collaborations with Swiss specialists, who worked with Tajik doctors at the National Center for Tuberculosis, Pulmonology, and Thoracic Surgery. Under a program supported by the German Development Bank, Swiss experts shared expertise in diagnosing and treating tuberculosis, lung diseases, and thoracic conditions.

Together with Tajik surgeons, the Swiss team performed advanced endoscopic surgeries, allowing patients to recover faster without large incisions. Additionally, they donated modern medical equipment to the center, further enhancing the country’s healthcare capabilities.
