Tajikistan Reaffirms Regional Priorities at SCO Ministerial in China

Tajikistan’s Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin has participated in the Council of Foreign Ministers meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Tianjin, China, where he took part in wide-ranging discussions on regional cooperation and strategic priorities.

The high-level gathering brought together top diplomats from SCO member states to coordinate preparations for the SCO Council of Heads of State summit, scheduled for autumn 2025, The Caspian Post reports via Tajik media.

The ministers engaged in wide-ranging discussions on the organization’s strategic direction, regional cooperation priorities, and the impact of current international and regional developments.

In his remarks, Muhriddin reaffirmed Tajikistan’s commitment to the core principles of the SCO, stressing the importance of ensuring regional security, promoting sustainable economic development, and enhancing the Organization’s institutional effectiveness through practical initiatives.

The meeting concluded with the adoption of several key documents, including the draft Tianjin Declaration and the SCO Development Strategy through 2035, which will serve as guiding frameworks for the organization’s future activities. A series of joint statements and decisions were also approved to strengthen multilateral engagement and cooperation among member states.

As part of the official agenda, the foreign ministers were received by President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping, who underlined China's continued support for the SCO’s mission and its role in promoting regional peace, development, and connectivity.
