Tajikistan to Launch New Defense Industry Committee

Tajikistan is creating a new defense industry committee under the government as President Emomali Rahmon moves to strengthen oversight and coordination in the country’s military-industrial sector.

According to the presidential decree, the newly established committee will oversee defense industry matters previously handled by the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies. The transition marks a significant restructuring of Tajikistan’s defense management system, The Caspian Post reports via Kazinform.

The committee’s central office will employ 38 staff members, including eight military personnel. It will also include two deputy chairpersons and a seven-member governing board.

The Tajik government has been instructed to ensure the rapid establishment of the new body. The State Committee on Investments and State Property Management will provide office space, while the Finance Ministry will allocate funding from the republican budget.

The move comes as Tajikistan continues efforts to modernize key state sectors and strengthen national security institutions.

Earlier, Tajikistan’s national carrier also announced plans to expand its fleet with new Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, signaling broader modernization efforts across strategic industries.
