China, Tajikistan Seal Landmark Friendship Treaty During Xi-Rahmon Talks

China and Tajikistan have elevated their strategic partnership to a new level after Chinese President Xi Jinping and Tajik President Emomali Rahmon signed a landmark Treaty on Permanent Good-Neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation during talks in Beijing.

Meeting at the Great Hall of the People, Xi praised Tajikistan ahead of the country’s 35th independence anniversary and highlighted the enduring partnership between Beijing and Dushanbe despite global uncertainties, The Caspian Post reports via Xinhua.

The newly signed treaty reflects deep political trust and a commitment to long-term cooperation between China and Tajikistan, with both sides pledging to boost trade, investment, and regional connectivity under the Belt and Road Initiative.

The leaders agreed to deepen cooperation in green energy, artificial intelligence, digital economy projects, smart cities, and sustainable mining, signaling a broader push toward high-tech and environmentally focused development.

Security also featured prominently in the discussions, with both countries vowing to strengthen law enforcement coordination and jointly combat terrorism, separatism, and extremism across the region.

In addition to economic and security ties, the two nations pledged to expand educational exchanges, cultural cooperation, media partnerships, and people-to-people connectivity.

The visit concluded with the signing of more than 10 cooperation agreements spanning agriculture, trade, investment, AI, green mining, culture, education, and media sectors, underscoring the rapidly expanding partnership between Beijing and Dushanbe.
