Tajikistan, AIIB Sign Major $800M Investment Plan

President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon has met with Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) President Jin Liqun in Beijing on May 11 to discuss expanding cooperation on major infrastructure and development projects.

During the talks, the sides reviewed current partnerships and explored new opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation, The Caspian Post reports via Khovar.tj.

Rahmon praised the bank’s role in supporting key infrastructure initiatives across Tajikistan and thanked the AIIB leadership for its continued backing of the country’s sustainable development efforts.

The meeting focused heavily on boosting cooperation in strategic sectors, including energy, transport and road construction, water supply, digital and green technologies, and agriculture.

Several major infrastructure projects are already being implemented in Tajikistan with AIIB financing totaling $400 million.

At the end of the meeting, Tajikistan and the AIIB signed a long-term investment plan worth more than $800 million, marking one of the country’s largest future development partnerships.
