As part of his official visit to Tajikistan, Turkish Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş has met with President Emomali Rahmon in Dushanbe to discuss expanding trade and economic cooperation.
President Rahmon highlighted the importance of parliamentary diplomacy and stressed that relations with Türkiye hold a special place in Tajikistan’s foreign policy, The Caspian Post reports via Tajik media.
The leaders discussed expanding trade and economic cooperation in areas such as textiles, aluminum processing, and investment projects, including joint production initiatives using local resources.
Both sides confirmed their commitment to collaboration in education, science, culture, and tourism and exchanged views on key international and regional issues.
Kurtulmuş arrived in Dushanbe on December 1, welcomed by parliamentary committee heads and ambassadors, leading a Turkish parliamentary delegation at the invitation of Tajik Parliament Speaker Rustam Emomali. This marks his first visit to Tajikistan as parliamentary speaker, expected to strengthen bilateral legislative ties.
After Tajikistan, Kurtulmuş is scheduled to visit Uzbekistan for official meetings and to attend the graduation ceremony at Bukhara University of Medical Sciences.
