Tajik Leader Stresses Security Priorities at CSTO Summit

Tajik President Emomali Rahmon took part in the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Collective Security Council session in Bishkek, where he underscored the organization’s key role in safeguarding stability across the region.

President Rahmon stressed that Tajikistan, positioned on the southern frontline of collective defense, places strong emphasis on bolstering security within the CSTO’s Central Asian zone, The Caspian Post informs via Tajik media.

He called the current global landscape “complex and unpredictable,” and expressed full support for the summit’s agenda and strategic decisions.

Tajikistan backed the CSTO Military Cooperation Development Plan for 2026-2030 and approved the Anti-Drug Strategy for the same period. Rahmon also pointed to the importance of collaboration with the SCO Anti-Drug Center, which is now being established in Dushanbe.

The president highlighted the earlier CSTO program aimed at strengthening the Tajik-Afghan border, voicing hope for its timely execution. He also emphasized the value of creating a CSTO Humanitarian Response Center in Tajikistan, expressing confidence that member states would support the initiative.

At the conclusion of the Bishkek summit, the leaders of the CSTO member states signed several key documents aimed at deepening cooperation and reinforcing collective security efforts.
