UN Backs Tajikistan’s AI Resolution for Central Asia’s Sustainable Future

The United Nations General Assembly has unanimously approved a resolution titled “The Role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Creating New Opportunities for Sustainable Development in Central Asia,” spearheaded by Tajikistan.

The resolution establishes a global precedent for the ethical and safe use of AI, emphasizing the development of self-regulation and responsible governance frameworks at both regional and national levels, The Caspian Post reports, citing Kyrgyz media.

Key highlights include proposals for leveraging AI technologies to advance sustainable development in Central Asia and the creation of a regional AI center in Dushanbe to coordinate collaborative AI initiatives across the region.

The initiative aims to foster safe, reliable, and trustworthy AI systems, balancing innovation, regulation, and internal oversight-setting a model for other regions worldwide.
