The US Embassy in Dushanbe has announced that the US delivered 75 tons of US-produced food, worth $255,666, to support around 40,000 vulnerable individuals across Tajikistan.
The shipment, produced by Breedlove Foods in Lubbock, Texas, consists of a fortified lentil-rice-vegetable mix enriched with essential vitamins and minerals, The Caspian Post reports via Tajik media.
It will be distributed to more than 140 health and social institutions, including tuberculosis centers, psychiatric facilities, oncology clinics, and shelters for refugees, aiming to improve the health and well-being of at-risk populations.
Distribution will be managed by the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, the Emergency and Civil Defense Committee, the National Tuberculosis Center, and the Red Crescent Society.
“Our mutual goal is simple: to save lives, improve health, and make a real difference for Tajik families and communities,” said US Ambassador Micaller.
Since 2007, the US government has delivered a total of 1,000 tons of fortified food to Tajikistan, valued at over $2.2 million, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, the non-government organization (NGO) “Avesto,” and the American NGO “Resource and Policy Exchange.”
