Azerbaijani Ambassador to Turkmenistan Gismat Gozalov has said that in 2025, relations between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan reached a new level of strategic partnership.
According to the diplomat, high-level mutual visits have laid a solid foundation for expanding cooperation across economic, energy, transport, and cultural-humanitarian spheres, The Caspian Post reports via Turkmen media.
In July, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty (People's Council) of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov visited Baku and Karabakh, where the sides discussed initiatives aimed at deepening bilateral ties.
In August, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev took part in a trilateral meeting with the leaders of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan in Avaza. The talks concluded with the signing of key cooperation documents in the fields of transport and transit, marking an important step toward closer regional connectivity.
The October summit of the Organization of Turkic States in Gabala served as another platform for strengthening relations. As part of the event, the foundation stone of a mosque was laid in the Azerbaijani city of Fuzuli on the initiative of Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the National Leader of the Turkmen people.
In November, Azerbaijan was admitted as a full member of the Consultative Format of Central Asian Heads of State at a summit in Tashkent. Turkmenistan, in turn, invited Azerbaijan to take part in the next summit of the format, scheduled to be held in 2026, further underscoring the growing strategic partnership between the two countries.
