At a recent Cabinet of Ministers meeting, Turkmen Deputy Prime Minister Mammetkhan Chakyev has presented an eight-month performance report on Turkmenistan’s transport and communications sector for 2025.
The data revealed strong positive dynamics across all major segments, reinforcing the country’s position as a key regional transit hub, The Caspian Post reports via Turkmen media.
Key Highlights
Overall sector growth: The sector exceeded its targets, achieving a 13.6 per cent increase in services.
Freight and passenger transport:
Freight volume rose by 1.5 per cent
Passenger transport grew by 3.6 per cent
Top Performing Sub-Sectors
Telecommunications: +20 per cent
Turkmen Airlines: +14.4 per cent
Road Transport: +11.9 per cent
Maritime and Inland Waterways: +7.3 per cent
Rail Transport: +5 per cent
Following the report, Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov stressed the importance of continued improvement in the transport and communications system. He instructed the deputy prime minister to implement measures aimed at boosting freight and passenger transport volumes, while also enhancing conditions for the development of international transit corridors.
