Turkmen Ambassador to Azerbaijan Gurbanmammet Elyasov has said that National Leader of Turkmenistan and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty (People's Council), Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, will participate in the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) this May in Baku, Azerbaijan.

The ambassador highlighted that Berdimuhamedov’s visit will underscore Turkmenistan’s commitment to engaging in global dialogue on sustainable urban development, The Caspian Post reports via local media.

WUF13 is expected to be a key platform for advancing international cooperation and promoting modern urban planning practices.

“In Turkmenistan, priority is given to housing construction, modernization, and creating comfortable living conditions. Our urban policy focuses on developing safe, modern, and vibrant cities,” the ambassador noted. He cited Ashgabat and the city of Arkadag as examples of dynamic development and comprehensive urban planning.

WUF13 will take place in Baku from May 17 to 22, 2026, bringing together leaders, experts, and policymakers to shape the future of sustainable cities worldwide.
