Turkmenistan, Malaysia Reach Agreement on Partial Visa Waiver

During the first official visit of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov to Malaysia, negotiations were held with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, which ended with the signing of a significant package of documents, The Caspian Post reports, citing Turkmen media.

During the signing ceremony, which took place in an expanded format, the parties approved a Joint Statement and exchanged:

  • notes on the Agreement between the Government of Turkmenistan and the Government of Malaysia on the partial abolition of visa requirements;
  • notes on the Agreement between the Government of Turkmenistan and the Government of Malaysia on air traffic and cooperation in the field of aviation industry;
  • diplomatic notes of understanding between the Government of Turkmenistan and the Government of Malaysia in the field of training diplomats and cooperation in scientific exchange;
  • memorandum of understanding between the Government of Turkmenistan and the Government of Malaysia on cooperation in the field of tourism;
  • protocol on the commercial terms of the Production Sharing Agreement for the development of the “Toplum-I” contract area in the Turkmen section of the Caspian Sea;
  • memorandum of understanding between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan and the Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce and Industry;
  • memorandum of understanding between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan and the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia.
