Turkmenistan Outlines Key Priorities in ECO’s New Regional Partnership Vision

Turkmenistan’s delegation, led by Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov, actively participated in the 17th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), held in Khankendi, Azerbaijan.

The summit, themed “New ECO Vision for a Sustainable and Climate Resilient Future” provided a critical platform to enhance multilateral cooperation and craft joint strategies for sustainable and inclusive regional development, The Caspian Post reports, citing Orient.

In his keynote speech, Meredov underscored the vital importance of a newly proposed strategic framework that will guide economic cooperation among ECO member states through 2035. He reaffirmed Turkmenistan’s steadfast commitment to the principles of multilateralism and highlighted several key strategic priorities:

Logistics and Transport: Developing efficient transport and logistics corridors and promoting further integration of ECO’s transport-logistics systems.

Energy: Focusing on diversification of energy supply routes and advancement of green energy initiatives. Turkmenistan proposed establishing a coordinated energy policy mechanism among member states to ensure reliable energy supply and bolster regional energy security.

Trade and Investment: Committing to the removal of trade barriers, boosting investment, and fostering direct engagement between business communities, including through chambers of commerce.

Technology and Innovation: Strengthening collaboration on cutting-edge technologies and innovation to drive regional growth.

Cultural and Humanitarian Ties: Emphasizing the role of cultural and humanitarian cooperation as a foundation for deeper regional integration and shared prosperity.

Summit participants expressed optimism that the outcomes of the gathering will significantly advance mutually beneficial cooperation among ECO members, guiding the region toward a sustainable and prosperous future.
